Millions. Then What? The Lifestyle Business Debate – FZS006

There’s a huge debate in the business world about “lifestyle” businesses. Is there something deep and true here?

Could it completely change the direction you choose and your definitions of “wealth,” “purpose” and “happiness?”

Or is it just a fad, a buzzword of the time used to sell books (and hammocks and beach-side wifi)?

In this episode WE. GET. INTO IT. Corbett’s experience (he’s been doing this for a while) and insatiable hunger for Mexican guitar music drives us onward through the big questions about what you may be taking for granted and which ball is made of rubber.

I definitely had the same issue for the longest time Alex B. I think it is in our nature to want to think big. Then I realized that I wasn’t making anything shooting straight for the moon. You can still get there, but I feel I am getting there a lot faster by taking one step at a time.

Hi guys…nice podcast….I wanted to share my idea of what lifestyle business means. I think it is when you are working and living life on your own terms. So that will be different for everyone.

I left corporate (and this blog was very helpful toward this goal). So now I work, when I wish to, doing what I like to do and I can travel and hang out with friends and I never wake up loathing the day ahead, anymore. I make enough money to keep my old lifestyle (with a few changes) but I am peaceful and contented and healthier now.

I like money too, but it is important to know what enough is and when you cross over the line and lose yourself. Thanks for being there!

    • Chase Reeves

      Great story, Kelly. Thanks!

OMG! Chase, Corbett & Caleb………Thank you for deciding to create “The Fizzle Show” podcast. You guys “CRACK ME UP” with your sense of humor. LMFAO with the “Gluten Free Crackers, Make Some Banana Bread, Toca La Guitarra, Play with Your Amigos and especially Separate Your Balls” comments. The Dynamic Personalities amoung the 3 of you is “PRICELESS!” You guys are “Crushing It” with your awesome content. I’m hooked and will be forever wanting “More Stones” LOL. Thanks again guys for Rockin It Out! You ARE making a Difference!

Corbett & Chase….Glad to have come forward as your “Ideal Listener” with no need to worry on how to balance the craziness. Just know your ideal listeners, like me, LOVE IT when you are: “Just Keeping It Real!” Thanks again guys for all that you do…..you too Caleb! LOL :)

Hey guys I finally got time to listen to this and realized you answered my question, so thanks guys!

The STOP doing list: on mine are a couple things like the retouching and I’m working on weeding that out, but I need to replace the income. I love the teaching (photography) actually and blogging and want to spend more time creating my own products – it just never seems to happen.

I’d love to stop the J.O.B too but again, it’s the income. I feel like it’s a catch 22 situation where I need the products to sell to replace the other sources of income but without the time off from the JOB I can’t find the time to create them. I may just take the leap and set a “quit date”, I’ve done that before and it makes me get my sh*t together.

Batching – yeah good idea, thanks!

Love you guys, see you in Portland soon!

    • Chase Reeves

Awesome, Darlene. Glad to hear it.

    Hey Guys,
I listened to Episode 14, and followed the link to this episode. (Nice work linking back to older posts!). I just HAD to find out what the “Pejorative Mexican” was. I had never heard that story before. I often come back to that very sentiment in head myself.

I am glad you brought up David Heinemeir Hansson. I think he’s the best voice of work/life balance, or “lifestyle business” that I know of (see what I did there?).

I am going to too my own horn, and point out the interview I conducted with him here: http://snd.sc/1ctKhlv

Chase, I think you’ll find it interesting that he’s not the “Alpha Male” type you think he is.

So this was the first episode I’ve listened to and I loved it. I loved it primarily because you didn’t claim to have the answers up front on such an important and much discussed topic (and one dear to my heart).

Instead you talked them through in your own styles and it was fantastic.

I just left a review saying as much so 5 stars to you guys.

By the way Chase I was working out in the gym at the time and I couldn’t complete a set because I was laughing so hard at one point.

You beat yourself up when you don’t get enough done in the day. You get frustrated and moody and it clouds your vision, keeps you from doing your best work. I know because I do the same thing… and, for some reason, we’re ALL so naturally bad at work-life balance.
