There are websites about nearly everything imaginable, but that doesn’t mean that they are all good! Here at Fizzle, we believe that anyone who puts in the right amount of focused effort can build an audience online, even if it is about an obscure topic.
A reader emailed me this week with a suggestion. She left her job over a year ago to travel the world and start a business with her partner. After struggling to get her business off the ground for the better part of a year, anxiety got to her.

If you've been following along, you know that during November I published a blog post here every day. Monday, Tuesday... every day including the weekends. That was a big change from my publishing schedule before. I published more in November than I did during the previous 9 months.
I’ll never forget the moment in 2009 that I received an email from National Geographic with the subject line, “Are you interested in writing a book for Gen Y?” I looked over both shoulders. Who, me? Is this a joke? This must be spam. Book deal via email is the new Nigerian wire fraud.

220,000 visitors to one page. That’s what I saw after just three weeks. And thousands more continue to pour in every day. I’ve had my site mentioned on big sites before and gotten a lovely spike of traffic, and I’ve had certain posts go viral on one particular social networking site, but both of them are dwarfed by recent events. You can read all the blogging advice in the world, but none of it matters unless you take action. To set your blog up to be a massive success, you have to ruthlessly focus your efforts on things that work, and stop spending precious time on things that don't.
