Do you work from home or manage a team that works remotely? Have you felt how inefficient and lackluster running a decentralized team can be?
It’s nice to side step the costs of an office, the commutes, the daytime interruptions that come with going remote, but the challenges can build up.
In this episode you’ll learn exactly how we solve these problems, including:
- How to feel like a team even when you’re completely remote,
- The systems you need to run smoothly (our company operating system),
- The tools to use to communicate and stay productive remotely.
Don’t cobble together a Kludge (we define that in today’s show :) — here’s how we got to a fully functional remote team. Enjoy!

The Top 10 Mistakes in Online Business
Every week we talk with entrepreneurs. We talk about what’s working and what isn’t. We talk about successes and failures. We spend time with complete newbies, seasoned veterans, and everything in between.
One topic that comes up over and over again with both groups is mistakes made in starting businesses. Newbies love to learn about mistakes so they can avoid them. Veterans love to talk about what they wish they had known when starting out.
These conversations have been fascinating, so we compiled a list of the 10 mistakes we hear most often into a nifty lil' guide. Get the 10 Most Common Mistakes in Starting an Online Business here »

After episode 121 (Chaaaaaaase……), imagine my surprise to hear my favorite topic so well thought out and clearly defined in 122! My absolute favorite topic and an important one for all entrepreneurs, teamed up or otherwise. I’m glad you touched base on a few tips that solopreneurs can use to manage their business and be setup for growth when that happens down the line.
This was super helpful. Right now our business is just my wife and I with four hours/week of social media help from Abby’s sister. We plan on increasing her responsibilities this fall. I’m thinking Slack is a must for us.
Right now I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it to use something like Zendesk, Groove, or HelpScout for customer service. We only get about 5 support requests per day relating to one of our products. With that low volume and a team of three, it may be overkill.
One of the highlights of WDS was the rooftop party with the Fizzle crew. Stoked to finally meet y’all in person and share a cold one while looking over the Portland skyline.
When it comes to virtual teams Slack is lifesaver. I’m glad y’all talked about the pros/cons of both co-located and virtual teams. I currently work on both (cubicle at day job, remote by night for vigilante work) and I’d love a hybrid like Fizzle. Allows for maximum freedom and leveraging technology to overcome geographical barriers while embracing opportunities for in-person marathon work/play sessions.
Keep up the good work! Stay crazy, Chase Underscore. :)
